This is the only place in all gospels, canonized or not, where Jesus is recorded writing anything. This makes this writing very important.
Jesus is without sin, he is the son of God. When he draws the line he is on one side and the Pharisees are on the other. Jesus wrote “Yahweh”. It is a word that was not permitted to be said in the Old Testament and was only written in the Torah with code so that Lord was used in its place. If anyone threw a stone they would be throwing it at god, crossing the line of judgement left for Jesus and God.
Lastly we see Jesus forgive showing his ultimate power and most divine mercy.
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the one who is called the Word. The Word was with God and was truly God.”
