Ironically, Yet Refreshingly, Christians Gave the Democratic Party the Victory!

The Christian…

King Cyrus or the Man of Lawlessness?

Since 2016, to justify supporting Trump, many Christians peddled the idea that he was like King Cyrus, a foreign king that God used to help Israel. For argument’s sake, I’ll give the benefit of the doubt and concede that is perhaps, in some ways, what happened. However, by them also condoning Trump’s behavior throughout his Presidency rather than rebuking his evil ways, they ended up helping refashion a “man of lawlessness” too.

Did God Reverse the 2016 Results in 2020?

As I see it, God’s disapproval of Trump and Trumpism is reflected in the 2020 election results. Consequently, Christians will now have to suffer under the sins of the Democrats rather than have the nation suffer under the evil that they disregarded in Trump. Furthermore, if Trump was put in by God as a “King Cyrus,” then is it possible that the reversal of his 306-232 winning margin in 2016 to exactly 232-306 in 2020 is a sign that God has reversed His decision and is disciplining Christians for serving the creature rather than the Creator? Do you need to repent of that?

Warning of a Trump Resurrection

Finally, a word of warning! If Trump’s behavior in his first term of office has been bad, His behavior is likely to be far worse if he is elected in 2024! For, the consequences then could be far worse than tolerating his endless lies, his Ukraine call cover-up and impeachment, his bungling of the coronavirus pandemic, and his administration’s low regard for Black lives and migrants. Also, if he is re-elected in 2024, he will have no more need of Christians and may turn on them just as the beasts Nero and Domitian did on the early Christians.

Poor Excuse for Choosing Bad Character

In 2016, highly influential evangelical leader, Jerry Falwell Jr., endorsed Donald Trump’s candidacy despite the candidate’s gross shortcomings in character. He said, “We’re not choosing the pastor-in-chief, we’re choosing the President of the United States.” In doing this he broke rank with God, for this is not how the Almighty taught us when He chose David to be king. For, in choosing David, God found a man after His own heart.

Trump, “the best doctor”

The irony is that Falwell said that he saw in Trump a man who loved people and went on to say, “if you had a young child who was ill you would want to choose the best doctor.” With 250 000 Americans dead, largely because of Trump’s politicking and despite his confessed early knowledge of the danger of the coronavirus, it seems that he has loved himself, power, and the dollar more than the American people.

Church Leaders Follow Evil and the People Follow Suit

If America is in a mess today, it’s because evangelicals sidestepped serious character flaws in Trump and then went on to excuse his behavior throughout his term of office. In their blind zeal for God, they endorsed a “fox” rather than a man after God’s own heart or even just a good man like God found in king Cyrus of Persia.

Consequently, America’s evangelical leaders are not unlike the prophets and priests in the days of Judah. For Jeremiah writes, “The prophets follow an evil course and use their power unjustly. ‘Both prophet and priest…I find their wickedness,’ declares the Lord” (Jer. 23:10-11 NIV).

Repent!

Church leaders like Falwell, Franklin Graham, Kenneth Copeland, Paula White, and countless others must repent of endorsing evil and for helping to lead the church and the nation into the idolatry of Trumpism. Furthermore, the church must repent of making super-gurus out of church leaders, for this idolatry causes Christians to be led by people rather than God.

Jesus does not take kindly to false teaching and idolatry. For, to the church of Pergamum, He says, “I have a few things against you: There are some among you…who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth” (Rev. 2:14-16 NIV).

The Church in America Must Repent of Trumpism to Help Heal the Land and Avoid Losing Her Purpose

The church in America must repent of their Trumpism or they risk losing so much more than their country’s God-given democracy that so many have laid down their lives for.

The American Church on President Trump (Picture by Adrian van Leen)

You Have Ignored Bad Character at Your Peril

Repent for ignoring Trump’s character and making a deal with an ungodly man.

Repent for supporting the President regardless of his behavior.

Repent for never showing your displeasure at his evil ways.

Repent for helping to fuel national division so that debate has fallen apart and people are led by lies.

Your failure to be God’s prophetic voice is helping to destroy the country.

Repent for dishonouring the President-elect and fuelling division.

The Man of Lawlessness Is in the Temple

Repent, Church leaders, for leading people to think that God was somehow especially behind Trump. Because you have called evil good, you have been and will continue to be played as the beast’s false prophet. Repent, therefore!

Repent every pastor and church leader that initially helped the church to elect a man of lawlessness into office, and, worse, into the hearts of God’s people (the temple of God), so that he reigns from there.

Repent for not holding the President accountable for his evil ways after you helped him become elected.

Trump is America’s very own beast that you have aided by playing the part of the false prophet.

Repent for every false prophecy spoken about the President.

Repent or You Will Lose Your Light

Repent, for you have profaned God’s name by endorsing evil so that reasonable people won’t want to hear the gospel from you. For, already, to the extent that this has happened, you have lost your light!

Finally, the next time the devil wants to make a deal with you, do what Jesus did when He was offered the kingdoms, or it will cost you dearly as it already has.

“Think how far you have fallen! Turn from your sins and do what you did at first. If you don’t turn from your sins, I will come to you and take your lampstand from its place” (Rev. 2:5 GNB).

Therefore, repent! For God’s word says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14).

[This word has been an application of the following texts: Matt. 4:8-10; Rev. 13; 2 Thess. 2:1-12; Isaiah 5:20; Rev. 2:5; 2 Chron. 7:14].

Prenatal Sexual Orientation Findings Confirm God’s Word

Research Confirms Prenatal Sin Nature

According to Wiki, ‘researchers…believe that sexual orientation is not a choice, and some of them believe that it is established at conception.’

To the extent that these findings are true, particularly in explaining homosexuality, they are a real God-send. This is because they agree with God’s word concerning the prenatal origin of our sinful nature.

In short, God’s word views all humans as sinful from conception and it also sees homosexual orientation as one of many possible sinful orientations in human nature. With that in mind, findings that point to persons being born (and even conceived) with a homosexual orientation are clearly a great example and proof of human sinful nature existing from infancy and even from conception.

Is God Being Unfair or Helpful?

The idea that homosexuality is an orientation that some are born with does not prove that homosexuality is not sinful. Neither does it prove that God would be unfair to consider this condition unholy. Instead, these findings discredit the notion that babies are born morally pure or neutral and should lead all people to realize their personal need for God’s help because of the sinful nature that they are born with.

Just as King David did when contemplating his sinful self, it would be a good starting point to recognize that “surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me” (Psalm 51:5 NIV).

Tired of Justifying Sin?

Are you tired of your old self and of trying to justify it? God loves you and wants to give you a brand new life. God’s way out of our sinful orientation is found in His offer of a literal rebirth and a transformation of our lives.

For the life that He has to offer you, take a look at my post The Good News of An Exchanged Life – Part 1.

Rob Morley

PS. That homosexuality is the focus of this post was just a natural outcome of considering the researchers beliefs cited by Wiki in the light of God’s word. This was posted with the aim of getting all people to consider God’s view of the origin of their sinful nature, though it may manifest differently, and God’s remedy for it.

It’s Queer to assume that we can Redefine Marriage

Male & Male He Made Them? http://www.rgbstock.com/gallery/weirdvis (Lynne Lancaster)
Male & Male He Made Them?

(Lynne Lancaster)

Isn’t it strange that people gaily, or is it ‘gayly’, go about redefining marriage to include persons of the LGBT persuasion when God clearly gave a woman to Adam as his helper and suitable counterpart (‘help meet’) for marriage.

GOD’S DESIGN

God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him”…So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man (Gen 2:18-22)

ADAM’S RESPONSE AND GOD’S WORD ON MARRIAGE

Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh (Gen 2:23 -24).

GOD’S LAW

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them (Lev 20:13).

JESUS – MARRIAGE IS HETEROSEXUAL

But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife’ (Mar 10:6-7).

NEW TESTAMENT – HOMOSEXUALITY AND ITS CONSEQUENCES

For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due (Romans 1:26-27).

HOMOSEXUALITY, LIKE PEDOPHILIA

Because it was never in God’s design, homosexuality, like pedophilia, bestiality, adultery and fornication is destructive to the individuals involved as well as to a society that accepts it. It was for mankind’s benefit that these were spoken against in God’s word.

Is Halloween for Christians?

Happy Halloween?
Happy Halloween?

Divided over Halloween

Despite our great unity that we have in our faith, it seems that Christians are always divided over particular issues. And, certainly, one of those is whether participating in Halloween is right or not.

In fact, I’m sure that posts holding to various views on Christian involvement in Halloween are written annually around this time of the year, and probably even as we speak, to try and influence people one way or another. But, is there a right Christian response? Is there a clear Biblical answer to this issue? Does asking, “What would Jesus do?” resolve this issue once and for all?

Once in a while, you know that you are writing something that is probably going to open up a hornets’ nest. And, because of the topic, I don’t think that I have to be a prophet to expect that this post will garner more page views than many others that I have written. Nevertheless, my intention is certainly not to make waves for the sake of it, nor simply to gain page views. Rather, I hope that more openness to one another is kindled through this post and in a way that it effects not only Halloween, but also other areas of our lives where we find ourselves divided over issues of conscience. (I hear the hornets buzzing!)

Doesn’t Your Conscience Tell You?

Some don’t participate in Halloween because their healthy consciences won’t let them, while others participate out of a healthy conscience without entertaining evil. (I would say that my wife and I are split into these two categories). And, like a pendulum with its extremes, some even participate out of a brazen spirit with seared consciences, while others participate in an attempt to reach their neighbors with the love of God and the message of the gospel.

Some choose to pray for their neighborhoods at a time when evil can increase, while others watch horror movies, claiming a strong faith and a clear conscience. Some simply see the opportunity to have fun with their kids, while others choose to let the day be of no consequence in their lives.

We are in the World, but not of the World

Some give themselves license to be involved by claiming that they are in the world, but not of it. Some of them do this by the Spirit’s leading while others do it regardless of the Spirit’s leading. Conversely, others use the same verse as a reason not to participate. Again, some don’t participate regardless of the Spirits leading, while others don’t participate by the Spirit’s leading.

Some recognize an opportunity to witness through healthy participation, while others recognize an opportunity to witness through non-participation. Each can argue forever over the merits of the way that they have taken, but let the Spirit guide you individually in the works that God has for you, for God will judge His servants.

Maybe some of our consciences are seared toward the evil around Halloween and we fail to see how much we are dancing with the devil. Maybe some consciences are unable to see room for participation that can contribute to healthy engagement in the fun and festivities.

Let God be Your Guide

This Halloween, let neither legalism nor license be your guide, but let the Spirit of God apply the word of God in your particular life situation. Also, let’s give each other the freedom to discover for ourselves what is best in our particular life situation and let’s not presume to know what is best for one another.

While different opinions over various issues of conscience may always be amongst us, it is in the way that we handle one another rather than our particular position that is a testimony to Christ.

God’s Laws, Government’s Laws and Christianity – Part 3 of 3

Part 3 (go here for part 1 and part 2)

Christians should be lovingly frank about the harm people put themselves in when living outside of any of God’s laws. They are all important! And by harm, I don’t mean the punishment that will come their way, but the dangers that a loving God is protecting them from. When necessary, we might need to call sin what it is, but this need never amount to abusive name calling. As I see it, the problem is often in how we address people, rather than in the fact that at times we do.

While Jesus (God in the flesh) honored the laws made for the nation of Israel, and these are a good template for individuals and governments, we see that His approach to sinners is friendship. In fact, God’s laws can be a way of introducing people to His loving character found most completely in Jesus.

Those of us who have come to know the loving God should preach the good news of God’s love for law-breakers. This way, people trapped by their sinful nature can find the love and acceptance from the One who, though they have offended by breaking His laws, loves them. On receiving Jesus, we are acquitted and made righteous through the fact that Jesus paid the penalty for our sin by dying on the cross. Then, His Spirit in us and the law written on our hearts testifies that His word is true and, by looking to Him, we are enabled to keep it.

Without Jesus in our lives, government, law, moral society and God Himself can often seem like an uphill battle. This is the perception of sinful man. However, with Jesus we see God’s love in it all. Although we should sympathize and empathize with man’s weakness, we should not remove the things he battles against that are designed to bring him to the end of himself and see his need for Christ.

So, in summary, Governments should reflect all of God’s laws so people can happily co-exist. And, for both its purposes to protect people and to lead them to Christ we should not remove any part of God’s law that can be reflected in government law. Also, we should lovingly warn people about the harm that they put themselves in when living outside of any of God’s laws. Above all we should share the good news with people so that they can know forgiveness and discover grace to succeed.

God’s Laws, Government’s Laws and Christianity – Part 2 of 3

Part 2 of 3 (go here for part 1)

Government has laws so that the people it serves can happily co-exist. Now, imagine God became one of our citizens. What would He want government to legislate? Do we think that He thinks differently now to when He gave laws to His people Israel? Sure, the covenant He made with them is over, but the wisdom, truth and principles of love and justice found in God’s word still reflect His nature, as do the related blessings and curses and the sacrificial system. God has not gone soft on the law! Jesus on the cross is God’s attitude about the law and sin, and His dying didn’t change God’s attitude to these either.  What we see demonstrated is both His love for us when Jesus took our punishment, and His justice satisfied.

Some may feel that we are expecting too much from people who are spiritually blind to walk in the light of God’s laws. However, rather than spiritual blindness, it’s the flesh, our selfishness, and seared consciences that keep us from doing what is right. Spiritual blindness is the inability to see that it’s our disconnection to a loving God that prevents us from doing what is right, and to find meaning in life. That doesn’t excuse us from the laws of God. We shouldn’t have less or a “softer” set of laws for unbelievers because they are spiritually blind. In fact God’s word says that the law exists for the unrighteous not the righteous. You see, besides, that they show God’s wisdom, love and guidance, God’s laws exist for unbelievers to see their shortcoming and lead them to Christ.

Also, we shouldn’t have less law to tolerate mans weakness, because without changed hearts, this would create anarchy to God’s laws. Rather, we should have all the laws that God would, so that men, women and children can learn of God’s ways and they can at least be outwardly protected from man’s sinful nature that needs to be kept in check. Governments should simply reflect God’s laws. On the one hand these are quite detailed, while on the other they can be summed up in showing love. Those without God’s love in them need to be governed by the detail, while those with God’s love rejoice in the love shown in the detail.

God’s Laws, Government’s Laws and Christianity – Part 1 of 3

Part 1 of 3

In these next posts I put to you three, of probably many, questions to consider around the contentious issue of governments making laws, and I discuss my thoughts around these questions. The first is, “Which of God’s laws should a government include in their list?” The framework for my consideration is Christian, where I consider God’s thoughts as supreme and best to follow. Secondly, in order to answer the first question, I ask, “What is a government’s mandate and jurisdiction?” Then finally, “Which of God’s laws should Christians be vocal about?”

Which of God’s laws a government should or shouldn’t legislate has to do with the mandate and jurisdiction of government. Some say that the government shouldn’t legislate on issues of morality. Obviously, such a blanket statement is absurd, what with possibilities of pedophilia, theft, murder, etc. Others say that adult consent is enough to decide whether something can be tolerated or not as long as it is not affecting anyone else. This, I’m afraid is a naïve idea of mankind, not realizing that everyone, especially the youth, is easily influenced both for good and for bad through witnessing peoples’ choices and behavior.

Pornography, homosexuality and adultery are examples of what has become rife because people influence people. And, when legalized, immorality grows even more rapidly. For example, the permitting of abortion has shaped society so much, that what was once outlawed, seen to be morally wrong and supported only by a minority, now has the U.S. divided down the middle. What is wrong is being called right, and worse, because it has been legalized, it has been established as right for our future generations.  In a democratic country, legislation is swayed by the morality of its people. This does not mean that democracy is wrong, but rather that over time our laws reflect who we are.
